Christian Kroupa is an electronic music producer and DJ from Logatec, Slovenia. His own Bandcamp profile currently places him in Berlin, where he describes himself simply as a 'various electronic music maker'. He also works under the name Alleged Witches, and as one half of the duo Black Dot.
According to an RTV SLO interview, he began releasing music around 2010, starting out with dub techno. He became part of the Ljubljana club scene through Radio Študent's Klubski Maraton, in which he took part in 2013, and his sound later moved towards darker, more ambient directions. The same interview describes his current range as spanning house, techno, electro and ambient. He has also hosted a show called Flash Forward on Radio Študent.
A turning point was his selection for the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo in 2014, where, according to the interview, he worked with dBridge. The recognition that followed led to his first vinyl, the EP 'A Dangerous Game' on the Budapest label Farbwechsel (catalogue FARB014), released on 1 December 2015. The label describes it as bleak, shadowy shapes between house and techno. The RTV SLO piece also mentions a contribution to the Fabric 90 mix compilation in 2016, a remix for Alex Smoke on Meda Fury (a sublabel of R&S Records), a vinyl release on Fruit Merchant in 2020, and an album, 'Work After Machinery', on Natural Sciences, whose release was delayed by the pandemic.
Under the alias Alleged Witches, according to the same interview, he explores the occult and darker sides of human existence. His Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages are shared under the combined name Alleged Witches / Christian Kroupa. His Resident Advisor listings exist under both names.
With Le Chocolat Noir (Jasmin, from Croatia) he forms Black Dot, a duo whose music oscillates between EBM and electro. Their booking profile states that they have released two records, on KRI (Ljubljana) and Mechatronica (Berlin), appeared on compilations by labels such as Marguerite (Milan) and Osare! Editions (London), and played in Ljubljana, Zagreb and at festivals in the region. It adds that DJs including Dave Clarke, Helena Hauff and The Hacker have played their tracks in sets and podcasts.
For SOUNDHITECTURES he released the EP 'Mutual In Divine Love' on 29 March 2017 and contributed to the 'Consistency' compilation on 20 October 2017. He has also released independently on Bandcamp: 'Reminiscence I' (4 February 2021, five tracks, described by him as various tracks from episodes of his past, straight from the hard drive) and 'Reminiscence II' (3 December 2021, five tracks). In September 2020 he appeared on the Paris label Les Yeux Orange with the track 'Emotional Resonance' on the compilation 'Driving Blind (Vol.1)'. In 2022 he gave a takeover set on Rinse France (31 May 2022).
In the RTV SLO interview he said he had declined online performances during lockdowns because of the lost connection to a live audience. No dated 2025 to 2026 releases or concerts could be verified from sources opened for this profile; his Bandcamp, Soundcloud and Instagram are the places to check for current activity.
